About this deal

This brilliant sequel to Cogheart is full of daring, danger and family secrets in a richly imagined world that will sweep you away. I really totally adored this book, and look-forward to seeing the faces of the young people (and old people) who get to be part of this special, extraordinary world.

Tapi, ada beberapa bagian yang masih membuatku penasaran, tentang Selena dan arwah, dan apa pilihan Robert atas tawaran Prof. They come first and it is essential to put the right book into the hands of every child to encourage them to read for pleasure. ReadingZone"A spellbinding sequel, a roller coaster journey full of catastrophe, buried secrets, breathtaking courage and intrigue. You guys are such a force for good and I am a passionate supporter of Indie booksellers, so I'm so happy this worked out well (I'd love to know how many books were sold if you have it to hand - it felt like quite a lot! Your words, like your reviews, bring books to life and give them a voice before the front cover is even turned.Moonlocket, the second in the series is equally exciting, packed with thrills, heroes and dastardly villains. A fast paced, non-stop adventure, intended for a younger audience but still able to be enjoyed by adults. We follow Lily, Malkin and Robert as they try to catch a famous criminal in Victorian, steampunk London. And especially the combination of violence, guns, family members, drowning and death is a combination that I don’t think should have happened in this middle grade. This was for one because we were plunged into the action straight away, and it lasted till the very end.

Lily has never quite felt normal, especially after discovering that she is a hybrid—a human with a cogheart implanted in her chest. You know that the characters are young but Bunzl doesn't coddle his younger readers by tip-toeing around the more unpleasant aspects of life that happen in his stories, I absolutely love this about his writing style. Sure enough, a scary night-time encounter with Jack Door soon follows and Robert discovers the eponymous Moonlocket. There was still the whole steampunk-element, and I rather enjoy the British language and style, but the story didn't really captivate me. Lily and Malkin, the mechanical fox, must stay one step ahead before Jack play his final, deadly card.Lily's strength and courage show that just because your body doesn't function 'normally' or just because you're different from everyone else, it doesn't make you any less special. Lily has a mechanical heart and this leads to inner conflict as she tries to determine whether she is human or not whilst subconsciously questioning what defines human. A spellbinding sequel, a roller coaster journey full of catastrophe, buried secrets, breathtaking courage and intrigue.

Before long, Robert, Lily and Malkin are caught up in the midst of this scheme as they race against time to find the Blood Diamond before Jack. We see various other parts of Victorian London not explored in book one in all their steampunk glory, and the author's touches to this with mechanicals, mechanimals, airships and the likes was, of course, fantastic. Jack Door was a little predictable and stereotypical, but I enjoyed the moments were Finlo doubted Jack and wasn't the "perfect villain". When infamous escapologist Jack Door breaks out from Pentonville Prison, he sets out for the town of Brackenbridge, determined to find his missing treasure – the Moonlocket. But they are also flawed, they get scared, they do stupid things, they are real… It is a book filled with puzzles and adventure. There were a few lines in this book that really hit my heart; "They think I'm not as clever or capable as them because of who I am. Everyday that mechanical elephant walks about the park trumpeting and spraying the passers by with his trunk. If you didn't divide it, carve things into categories, it was all one and the same anyway - waves and oceans, dawns and sunsets, noise and silence. Therefore, intent on solving the mystery, Lily, Robert and Malkin the mechanical fox, set out for London on an adventure full of danger, Can Lily, Robert and Malkin foil Jack Door’s villainous quest?
