Now you know we always like to help you out with anything craft related, so we put on our crafting caps and made our very own Forky. Peddling toys is part of what Disney does, of course, but there’s something uncomfortably cynical—and yet ingenious—about making money off a character that is supposedly the product of a child’s imagination, thrown together from literal garbage. Disney Pixar’s My First Bedtime Storybook: This book is exactly what it says – fun stories to read the kids for bedtime!
Honestly, it was so therapeutic and fun, and when I brought Forky home my daughter loved playing with it. I made one too, and thus were born Sick-a and Sick-o, ponytailed friends who were put on the shelf until the next stuffy nose came along and I demanded their company again. A hunk of white clay serves as the base on which Forky stands, the two halves of the popsicle stick jutting out in front. Kids love this short lift-a-flap book, which features all their favorite characters, including Buzz Lightyear!
Then add the rainbow sticker to the top side of the right leg towards the curved end (aka Forky’s foot).
While creating Forky was an intimate, artistic process, mass-producing homemade Forkys took its toll.
