About this deal

The YouView Recordable TV Box Wall Bracket is another great addition to our line of Original innovative Mounting Solutions. I had a spare laptop hard disk (Hitachi, 80Gb) so I followed these instructions to fit, and it kinda worked – the box was now ‘alive’, it would record the current programme if I pressed the record button, but anything I set to record failed. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. Audio outputs comprise stereo RCA and an optical S/PDIF for connecting to a suitable home cinema amp. The apps are also very slow to the point that we don't really bother with them, as our LG TV already does all of them and is much quicker.

Each of the different platforms is developed by the parent channel, so there's a different look and feel to each.I switched it off with the unit power button, but now when I try to switch it back on there is no power – nothing happens at all.

An SSD might be quieter, however SSD’s only have a limited lifespan in terms of total gigabytes written to the disk. You can either subscribe to this or pay per view, and there’s a handy shortcut – the green button on the remote – that filters the view so you see only content that’s included in your package. I believe that ITVx is not currently available on these boxes, but may be supported sometime in the future. There are additional services outside of the free catch-up TV services that BT also adds to the mix.

Thanks Luke, Since writing I noticed that, and it looks like a possibility, I would be giving a try but in the mean time I would like to see if anyone has had success copying files from the DTR-T2110. If it had been a HDD problem (other than a dead short), it would probably have started up in some way even if it then rebooted.

Looking at your photos of inside the box there is a large plate on the underside – is that easy to remove?

We own two old Humax PVRs which we have been very pleased with, but for streaming have relied on an Apple TV which whilst excellent lacks easy access to iPlayer and other catchup services. Note: Replacing the hard drive in your YouView box means you might lose all the recordings on your old hard drive.

Seller has stated it will dispatch the item within 1 working day upon receipt of cleared payment - opens in a new window or tab . The constant writing to disk by the Youview box, even when not recording a programme, will quickly wear out an SSD and it will fail. I did struggle a bit with releasing the old hard drive from the unit (the released hard drive finally shot across the floor! I do not have a BT subscription so I don't know if my connection is somehow crippled - I doubt it, I'm just looking for an explanation.I was attracted to the YouView platform for its reported ease of use, and in this device it delivers. I have repaired several of these boxes last one was a humax 9300t with a failed drive fitted a 128 gb ssd drive taken from an alienware laptop wiped partitions fitted into cradle formatted and away it went. There's still plenty of confusion around what you might have to pay for, though, as well as the integration of BT TV services with wider YouView staples. Thanks Richard, yes as long as all the partitions are deleted off the used hard disk by a PC the YouView box will then create its own partitions.
