About this deal

LEGO® Harry Potter™ toys contain favourite characters, amazing creatures and familiar locations from the popular movies. They’re an ideal gift for any child wanting to be part of the movie magic.

The updated Hogwarts modular system has proven somewhat divisive, although both 76386 Hogwarts: Polyjuice Potion Mistake and 76389 Hogwarts Chamber of Secrets have definitely provoked positive responses. 76387 Hogwarts: Fluffy Encounter seems less successful in my opinion, particularly because the arrangement of different sections is inefficient.

Certain modules are also intended to specifically align with others, like the trap door in 76387 Hogwarts Fluffy Encounter sitting above the Devil’s Snare module also found in that set, or 76386 Hogwarts Polyjuice Potion Mistake ideally being placed above the module in 76389 Hogwarts Chamber of Secrets that contains the chute down to the eponymous chamber. LEGO® building kits meet rigorous industry quality standards to ensure they are consistent, compatible and connect and pull apart perfectly every time – it’s been that way since 1958. Anniversary Hermione Granger is provided as well, celebrating the twentieth anniversary of LEGO Harry Potter. These golden designs appear suitably impressive, especially because the torso is decorated with metallic gold accents to complement the pearl gold plastic. The reverse displays the twentieth anniversary symbol, matching the other commemorative minifigures. LEGO® components are dropped, heated, crushed, twisted and analysed to make sure they satisfy stringent global safety standards.

When this model is displayed as the instructions recommend, the opening trapdoor becomes useless. Thankfully, each section may be reconfigured to situate the trapdoor over the Devil's Snare, as demonstrated below. That arrangement is great for play, although the Devil's Snare appears disappointing because the plant should have been substantially larger and integrated greater detail. Hogwarts: Fluffy Encounter falls very clearly into that latter category, taking the premise of 4709 Forbidden Corridor – Fluffy the three-headed dog guarding a trapdoor above the Devil’s Snare – and remixes it into a modern-day build. But can a premise that seemed only slightly solid in 2001 hold its own in 2021? — Set details — In this article we’ll be taking a look at integrating the modules of 76398 Hogwarts Hospital Wing with those found in 76386 Hogwarts Polyjuice Potion Mistake, 76387 Hogwarts Fluffy Encounter, and 76389 Hogwarts Chamber of Secrets. Young witches and wizards will enjoy endless magical fun with LEGO® Harry Potter™ Hogwarts™: Fluffy Encounter (76387). This reconfigurable playset features favourite characters, familiar locations and a 3-headed dog for 3 times the fun!Nevertheless, the three heads are outstanding. Despite sharing the same mould, each piece displays varying decoration to portray angry and sleepy appearances! These designs feature extensive detail and the option of displaying Fluffy asleep is appealing, although this sleeping face restricts options when posing the animal, to some degree. Hogwarts: Fluffy Encounter shares some interesting similarities with 4706 Forbidden Corridor, representing exactly the same location and integrating certain consistent functions. Of course, the most notable continuity between them is the presence of Fluffy, although his appearance has changed dramatically since 2001. Minifigures This component is shared with the celebratory versions of Harry and Ron, available in 76386 Hogwarts: Polyjuice Potion Mistake and 76388 Hogsmeade Village Visit, respectively. I would prefer completely distinct decorations, although the exclusive heads and hair elements assure sufficient variation between characters. Each minifigure is connected to a golden display base and carries a pearl gold wand.

Even across these initial builds, there were already some idiosyncrasies and shortcomings present: for instance, the door section of 76395 Hogwarts First Flying Lesson doesn’t follow these rules, and the Chamber of Secrets module has a bit of Great Hall interior attached to it, making it awkward on the interior to attach anything other than the Great Hall module. The set measures over 12 in. (30 cm) high, 7.5 in. (19 cm) wide and 2.5 in. (7 cm) deep and connects easily to other LEGO® Harry Potter™ sets. The colours work nicely, particularly the grey linking to the Chamber of Secrets (even if the Devil’s Snare should lead somewhere else in-universe), but it’s a shame that same visual flow across this wave doesn’t extend to the narrative within the standalone 76387 Hogwarts: Fluffy Encounter. Next is a configuration that hinges the hospital wing in just one place, creating two towers with bases of 8×24 studs. Though the Great Hall no longer looks like itself at all, this setup looks decently Hogwarts-y (technical term). Finally, we really threw the modules together at random, creating two disconnected towers that hardly look good but could be something a kid playing around with the system cooks up.

Moreover, placing the balcony structure underground seems strange, although that becomes unnecessary after combining this model with others. Once again, the interior seems relatively sparse and recalls 4706 Forbidden Corridor, including two flaming torches which are mounted on the wall. While the balcony seems adequate, perhaps these pieces could have created the entrance for the Chamber of Winged Keys instead. Now let’s start putting more modules together. In the configuration below, we’ve kept the sections we mentioned earlier together, with the Great Hall above the Chamber of Secrets, the Forbidden Corridor above the Devil’s Snare, and the bathroom above the chute down to the chamber. While the hospital wing does not belong on Hogwarts’ lowest level, achieving locational accuracy is neither the point of this system nor really a possibility at all, and this configuration looks surprisingly good to us. Includes an exclusive, golden Hermione Granger™ minifigure to celebrate 20 years of magic with LEGO® Harry Potter™. Also includes 2 random wizard card tiles for kids to collect (16 in total). Upon discovering that somebody is attempting to seize the Philosopher's Stone, Harry Potter and his friends enter the underground chambers to protect it. The minifigure features a familiar tousled hair component and his double-sided head is common as well, appearing in fifteen sets since 2018. This design remains effective, but an alternative would be appreciated. An enchanting birthday, Christmas and holiday gift that will captivate young witches and wizards aged 8 and up.
